Microsoft has retired its free Azure support

Microsoft indicated June 30, 2024, as the start for the cessation of providing complimentary Azure technical support to customers. Microsoft says its customers under Enterprise Agreement (EA) and Microsoft Customer Agreement Enterprise (MCA-E) programs are to be affected.  

What support plan is available?  

Microsoft customers already covered by a general support plan, such as Unified Support or ProDirect Support will not be impacted by the retirement of the Azure support plan.  

However, customers currently without any paid support plan will need to select one of the plans below to continue receiving Azure technical support.   

Available options include the Standard Azure Support Plan at $100 per month and the Professional Direct Azure Support Plan at $1,000 per month.   

Professional Direct Azure Support Plan offers quicker response times for critical workloads, architecture support (including a delivery manager), an API, operational support, training, and proactive guidance.   

There is also an additional support plan provided by Microsoft called a Developer Support Plan for $29 per month.  

How to purchase the support plans available.  

Customers with an Enterprise Agreement (Enterprise Enrollment, Enterprise Subscription Enrollment, or Server and Cloud Enrollment) can reach out to their Microsoft account team or Microsoft partner for assistance. Those with a Microsoft Customer Agreement-Enterprise can conveniently purchase their preferred support plan online via the Azure Portal. For customers with an Azure Plan through a Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Partner, all support will still be provided by their partner—this remains unchanged.
